Responsibilities Coordinate and assign freight shipments to drivers using vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management. Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure timely deliveries. Communicate with drivers via multi-line phone systems, ensuring clear instructions, updates, and problem resolution while maintaining professional phone etiquette. Manage inbound and outbound shipping schedules, ensuring compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety standards. Maintain accurate data entry related to dispatch activities, shipment details, and driver logs to support efficient logistics operations. Collaborate with internal teams on supply chain planning, transportation scheduling, and freight management to enhance overall transportation planning strategies. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries promptly, resolving issues efficiently, and maintaining positive relationships with clients and carriers. Requirements Proven experience in dispatching within road transportation operations or logistics environments. Strong knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), vehicle dispatch software, and fleet management tools. Familiarity with GIS technology, GPS tracking systems, and route optimization techniques. Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and the ability to manage multi-line phone systems effectively. Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail in data entry, scheduling, and record keeping. Knowledge of DOT regulations related to freight transport and vehicle safety standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with Oracle Transportation Management is a plus. Ability to analyze operational data for continuous improvement in logistics processes. Strong customer service orientation combined with professional phone etiquette.
