Job Overview Alta Bus is seeking a highly organized, dependable, and proactive Dispatcher to join our growing transportation team. The Dispatcher plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth daily operations of our charter bus, shuttle, and transportation services. This individual will be responsible for coordinating drivers, managing daily schedules, monitoring trips, communicating with clients, and resolving operational challenges in real time. The ideal candidate must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, remain calm under pressure, and demonstrate strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Duties Coordinate and schedule vehicle dispatches using transportation management systems (TMS) and vehicle dispatch software to ensure timely deliveries. Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams via phone calls, emails, and internal communication platforms. Monitor GPS (Geographic Information Systems) data to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and improve overall transportation efficiency. Manage compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Handle phone call management with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette while addressing inquiries or resolving issues promptly. Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for process improvements in road transportation operations and supply chain management. Requirements Proven experience with transportation planning, dispatching, or logistics coordination in a fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), vehicle dispatch software, and logistics tools such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms. Familiarity with Samsara, DOT regulations. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining accuracy in data entry and analysis. Outstanding communication skills—both verbal and written—and the ability to manage phone calls professionally using proper etiquette. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and reporting purposes. Ability to analyze operational data to support decision-making processes related to road transportation operations and supply chain efficiency. Strong understanding of fleet management practices including vehicle dispatching, route optimization, and compliance standards like DOT regulations.
