Dispatch Supervisor
Cold Star IceJob Title: Dispatcher Department: Transportation & Logistics Reports To: Transportation Manager / Operations Manager Location: Chino Employment Type: Full-Time Position Summary The Trucking Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and scheduling the daily movement of ice delivery trucks to ensure timely, efficient, and safe delivery of packaged and bulk ice products to customers. This role serves as the primary communication link between drivers, warehouse personnel, production staff, and customers while maximizing route efficiency and maintaining excellent service levels. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Answer incoming calls, log details, and prioritize requests based on urgency. Schedule and dispatch drivers, trucks, and trailers for daily delivery routes. Monitor delivery schedules to ensure on-time service to retail, commercial, and industrial customers. Coordinate with production and warehouse teams to ensure adequate ice inventory is available for scheduled deliveries. Track vehicle locations and driver progress throughout the day using GPS and dispatch software. Communicate route changes, delays, emergency deliveries, and customer requests to drivers promptly. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, driver logs, fuel usage, mileage, and transportation activities. Ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT), company safety, and Hours of Service regulations. Respond to customer inquiries regarding delivery status and service issues. Coordinate truck maintenance schedules and communicate vehicle issues to the maintenance department. Assist with seasonal demand planning during peak ice sales periods. Investigate and document delivery discrepancies, accidents, or service complaints. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 2 years of dispatching, logistics, transportation, or fleet coordination experience. Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance requirements. Experience using dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office applications. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing delivery priorities. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience in food, beverage, ice, or refrigerated distribution industries. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Familiarity with route optimization software. Knowledge of local and regional transportation routes. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer. Ability to communicate effectively via phone, radio, and electronic communication systems. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Ability to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends and holidays as business needs require. Working Conditions This position operates in a transportation office environment with frequent interaction with drivers, warehouse personnel, and customers. This role will require availability outside normal business hours during weather events, equipment breakdowns, and peak seasonal demand periods. Compensation: Hourly rate based on experience, plus benefits including health insurance, paid time off, retirement plan.
