Role Description The Dispatch Customer Service role is a full-time, on-site position based in Hoover, AL. This role is responsible for coordinating daily freight and driver dispatch activities, ensuring accurate scheduling, routing, and tracking of shipments. The dispatch professional communicates with drivers, customers, and internal teams to provide timely updates, resolve service issues, and maintain accurate records in dispatch and transportation management systems. Daily tasks include answering customer inquiries, processing orders, monitoring delivery statuses, and proactively addressing delays or exceptions. The role also involves collaborating with operations to optimize load assignments, support safety and compliance procedures, and contribute to a positive customer experience. Qualifications Strong customer service and communication skills, including clear phone etiquette and professional email writing. Ability to manage dispatch activities, such as scheduling, routing, and tracking shipments in transportation or dispatch software. Solid organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Problem-solving skills for resolving service issues, shipment delays, and driver-related concerns quickly and effectively. Basic computer proficiency, including data entry, use of MS Office tools, and familiarity with logistics or CRM systems. Attention to detail and accuracy when maintaining records, updating systems, and communicating shipment information. Ability to work collaboratively with drivers, operations staff, and other departments to support safety and service standards. High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in dispatch, transportation, or logistics customer service is preferred. Willingness to work assigned shifts and occasional extended hours to meet operational demands.
