Dispatch Agent | Chicago, IL | Salary up to $60,000 This is a full-time position supporting second-shift transportation operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating drivers, managing daily shipments, communicating with customers, monitoring deliveries, and ensuring a smooth handover between shifts. The role would suit someone who is organised, dependable, confident communicating with drivers and customers, and comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment. Hours Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM Compensation & Benefits Salary up to $60,000 Overtime paid after 40 hours per week Health insurance / Dental insurance / Vision insurance Accrued Paid Time Off (PTO) Stable, full-time employment Key Responsibilities Dispatch and coordinate drivers throughout the shift Monitor active pickups, deliveries, transfers, and local routes Enter and update orders within the transportation management system Communicate pickup and delivery instructions to drivers Track shipments and proactively address delays or service issues Communicate with customers regarding shipment status, delays, and operational issues Collect and verify BOLs, PODs, and other shipment documentation Coordinate equipment and driver availability for upcoming work Work with first-shift operations to ensure a complete and organised shift handover Maintain clear communication and continuity between team members and shifts Prepare work and schedules for the following day when required Assist drivers with operational issues while maintaining safety procedures Help ensure DOT and operational procedures are followed Maintain accurate shipment notes and operational records Work with management and other dispatch team members to resolve problems quickly Participate in an on-call rotation as required Carry out additional operations and dispatch duties as needed Candidate Requirements Previous experience in transportation, trucking, logistics, or dispatch is preferred Strong communication and customer-service skills Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple shipments Good computer and data-entry skills Ability to make sound decisions and resolve problems independently Strong attention to detail and follow-through Reliable attendance and punctuality Ability to communicate professionally with drivers, customers, and colleagues Knowledge of local transportation operations is advantageous Airport transportation/operations experience would be an advantage
