Job Summary : Transportation Director provides strategic leadership and oversight of all transportation and logistics operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of goods and equipment across the Goodwill network. This role sets the vision for transportation excellence by developing long-range plans, optimizing fleet operations, and driving continuous improvement in routing, scheduling, and delivery performance. The Director is accountable for maintaining full compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards, fostering a culture of safety and accountability across the department. Strong leadership, data-driven decision-making, and a commitment to operational excellence are essential for success in this role. Minimum Qualifications : Education High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, General Management or related field preferred. Experience At least three years of related experience and execution of similar duties in transportation/warehouse/freight operations required. Supervisory experience required. Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration Valid Driver’s License Other Must have excellent communication skills Must have excellent problem solving skills Must have excellent critical thinking skills Job Duties Essential Duties Logistics Management: Oversee routing, scheduling, and fleet operations to optimize delivery efficiency and minimize costs. Supports Transportation Dispatchers as needed. Safety Compliance: Ensure full compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards; conduct regular safety audits and inspections. Training & Enforcement: Develop and deliver safety training programs for drivers and logistics staff; enforce compliance with all safety policies. Incident Investigation: Lead investigations of accidents or safety violations, implement corrective actions, and maintain accurate records. Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify and address safety hazards, ensure vehicle maintenance schedules are followed, and promote a safety-first culture. Regulatory Reporting: Maintain accurate compliance records, submit required reports, and stay updated on industry regulations. Team Leadership: Supervise logistics and transportation personnel, ensuring adherence to safety and performance expectations. Provides support to Warehouse personnel as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
