Director of Trade Compliance Location: Miami, FL (100% On-Site) Team Leadership: 6 Direct Reports (Miami & UK) Open to candidate who bring a strong EAR/OFAC/BIS and international trade experience. Requirements Regulatory Expertise: Mandatory, hands-on expertise in EAR, OFAC sanctions, and BIS regulations. 3PL & Broker Management: Proven track record directly overseeing customs brokers, freight forwarders, and 3PL partners in a high-volume international shipping environment. Experience Level: Minimum 5+ years of progressive trade compliance leadership (10+ years preferred for Director level) with experience building, scaling, or standardizing compliance programs. On-Site Presence: Must be able to work 100% on-site in Miami, FL. Who We Are Looking For (Candidate Profile) Our client is seeking a firm, hands-on trade compliance leader who can independently evaluate complex risk, standardize operating procedures, and translate complex regulations into practical business guidance. Industry Background: Aviation/aerospace experience is preferred, but we are actively considering candidates from other heavily regulated industries —including Defense, Technology/Semiconductors, Automotive, Medical Devices, Industrial Manufacturing, and Global Logistics— provided you have deep EAR/OFAC/BIS expertise. Leadership Style: Proactive, decisive, and capable of directing and developing a distributed team of 6 direct reports across the US and UK. Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have) Licensed Customs Broker (LCB), CUSECO, CUEO, or comparable trade compliance certifications . Working knowledge of ITAR requirements. Experience with duty drawback and duty relief management. Key Responsibilities Standardize and continuously enhance global trade compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls. Manage tariff classifications (HTS, ECCN), restricted-party screening, end-use/end-user reviews, and license determinations. Direct oversight of third-party customs brokers, logistics providers, and freight forwarders. Lead, mentor, and coach a global compliance team of 6. Identify duty/tax optimization strategies in collaboration with Finance and Operations.
