Director of Supply Chain & Procurement
mindzUniteThis is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the supply chain and procurement operations of a multi-location retail company. They are well-established and growing strategically. Up to this point, they've managed their supply chain and procurement with relative efficiency, but they are looking to level things up and truly establish and refine the function within the organization. This role is about building out processes and procedures and execution. This individual will manage one person, but will also be entirely hands-on with strategy and follow-through. This person will need to be on-site 3 days a week in San Rafael. They can work the other two days remotely. *They are open to relocating the right person and can cover all relocation costs. Responsibilities: Lead key supplier and vendor relationships, including pricing negotiations, service standards, and supplier performance. Manage purchasing with national suppliers and optimize and oversee delivery through a complex local distributor network. Manage procurement of more than $3 million annually in equipment. Work with Operations and Development teams to improve purchasing decisions, delivery timing, and total cost. Identify and qualify alternative and non-standard equipment suppliers where they can improve price, availability, or performance. Creativity in this role is key - not just buying where everyone else is buying products from vendors with large, padded margins. Improve inventory, ordering, receiving, and replenishment processes to reduce shortages, excess stock, and unnecessary spending. Oversee store-wide safety & compliance programs. Manage the existing Operations Manager, who supports stores with point-of-sale questions, front-line IT issues, daily supply problems, the store safety program, and other operational questions. Resolve recurring store support issues by improving vendor accountability, processes, and communication across the corporate team. Requirements: 4+ years of supply chain and procurement experience in a multi-location, retail/service industry Experience leading vendor negotiations and improving inventory processes Experience managing at least one direct report The strongest candidates will have examples of lowering total cost without creating shortages in supplies
