Director of Purchasing and Supply Chain

About the Opportunity Nisbet Brower, a leading building products distributor and manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Director of Purchasing & Strategic Sourcing to lead our centralized purchasing operations. This senior leadership position will be responsible for developing purchasing strategies, strengthening supplier relationships, optimizing inventory investment, and improving overall company profitability. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and hands-on leader with strong negotiation skills, financial acumen, and experience in building materials distribution or a related industry. Key Responsibilities Lead and develop the company's centralized purchasing team. Develop strategic sourcing initiatives and negotiate competitive supplier agreements, pricing, rebates, and incentives. Manage inventory replenishment, stock levels, inventory turnover, and working capital investment. Identify opportunities to reduce purchasing costs and improve gross margins. Build and maintain strong relationships with key manufacturers and suppliers. Reduce excess and obsolete inventory while maintaining excellent product availability. Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Manufacturing to support customer needs and company growth. Improve purchasing systems, forecasting, reporting, and operational efficiencies. Establish and monitor purchasing and inventory performance metrics. Qualifications 7–10 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience, including management responsibility. Experience in building materials distribution, manufacturing, or a related industry strongly preferred. Proven success in supplier negotiations, cost reduction, and inventory optimization. Strong analytical, financial, and organizational skills. Experience with ERP purchasing and inventory management systems. Demonstrated leadership ability and strong communication skills. Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred. Why Join Nisbet Brower?
