Director of Product Sourcing & Supply Chain
WPDirector of Product Sourcing & Supply Chain WoodPlank | Building Materials | Hybrid / Remote WoodPlank is looking for an experienced Director of Product Sourcing & Supply Chain to help build our next generation of products and international supply chains. We generated more than $21M USD in sales in 2025 and are on track to reach $50M+ USD in 2026 . As we scale, we need a senior operator who can identify new product opportunities, source and qualify manufacturers, negotiate commercial relationships, manage product testing and commercialization, and build the inventory systems required to support growth. This is not a role for someone who has only managed an established supply chain. We are looking for someone who has built them. You will initially operate as a senior individual contributor reporting directly to ownership, with the opportunity to build a team around the function as the company grows. What You’ll Own 1. New Product Strategy Identify new building-product categories and market opportunities that fit WoodPlank’s customer base and growth strategy. You will research market potential, competition, pricing, margins and supply-chain feasibility, then build recommendations for management on which products we should launch. Some opportunities will come from ownership. We also expect you to bring opportunities to us. 2. International Sourcing & Supplier Development Build new supplier relationships from the ground up, including: Identifying and qualifying manufacturers Evaluating factory capabilities and samples Negotiating pricing, MOQs, payment terms, lead times and exclusivity Managing tooling, packaging, warranties and quality expectations Developing long-term supplier relationships Improving landed costs and supply-chain economics Strong experience sourcing from China and other international manufacturing markets is highly preferred. We want someone who already knows how to evaluate, negotiate with and develop factories. This is not a learn-on-the-job position. 3. Product Development & Commercialization Work with suppliers and internal teams to bring products from concept to market. This may include product specifications, profiles, colours, formulations, accessories, packaging and ongoing product improvements based on customer feedback and market gaps. You will also help improve existing product lines by reducing costs, strengthening suppliers and expanding product depth. 4. Testing & Compliance Own the coordination of product testing and qualification. You will determine what testing is commercially or technically required, identify labs and consultants, negotiate costs, coordinate testing programs and ensure products are properly supported for the North American market. Experience with exterior building-envelope products, ASTM testing and building-product compliance is a strong advantage. 5. Inventory Planning Help build and manage our inventory forecasting function, including: SKU-level forecasting Purchase-order planning Reorder points and safety stock Container and production planning Lead-time management New-product inventory planning Reducing stockouts and excess inventory You should be comfortable building these systems , not simply operating an established process. What Success Looks Like Examples of major initiatives this person could own during the first year include: Launching a significant new category such as metal roofing or another major adjacent building-product opportunity Securing and developing a stronger composite fencing supply chain while reducing product and fulfillment costs Expanding our thermally modified wood offering into a deeper and more commercially mature product platform Building a more sophisticated forecasting and purchasing process as our SKU count and sales volume increase These are examples of the scale of opportunity, not a fixed task list. Who We’re Looking For The ideal candidate has significant experience with a building-material manufacturer, distributor or related building-p…
