What You Can Expect Working in the Director of Operations Position 

The Director of Operations leads and manages the Operations department across manufacturing, inventory, logistics, transportation, and service functions. This role ensures efficient systems, processes, and reporting to drive operational excellence. Working through managers and supervisors, the Director oversees performance, fosters cross-department collaboration, and implements strategies that align with company goals while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic direction for operations, designing and leading initiatives that drive long-term efficiency and excellence.
  • Oversees manufacturing, inventory, logistics, transportation, and service teams by setting goals, monitoring performance, and developing talent.
  • Uses data and reporting to analyze cycle times and trends, supporting capital planning and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Leads system implementations, automation, and process improvements to optimize operations.
  • Establishes procedures and controls to strengthen communication, information flow, and organizational planning.
  • Regularly evaluates operational results and present findings to senior leadership.
  • Promotes collaboration and effective communication across departments to achieve company objectives.
  • Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal laws governing business operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) or equivalent; ten years+ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • 5+ years of experience in production or manufacturing. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) with a focus in Excel. 
  • High level of communication across departments and with Leadership.  
  • High level of analytical/critical thinking. 
  • Experience with contact management systems. 
  • Valid Driver’s License. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Overall P&L experience and accountability.
  • Ideal candidate will have worked with several departments and be well versed in juggling multiple team

Supervisor Responsibilities  

This job does have supervisory responsibilities including up to 6 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of up to 50 employees. As a people manager, you will coach and develop employees in alignment with company policies and values, using corrective action where needed. You will be the direct contact for team questions and concerns and will support your team to maximize operational success.
