Director of Operations (Logistics)

Candidate Source is working with a growing healthcare logistics company in Charlottesville, VA that is looking for a Director of Operations . As the senior operator on site, you'll lead customer service, courier/transportation, and warehouse operations, and you'll have real authority to make day-to-day decisions, build processes that scale, and develop the leaders around you. This role fits a hands-on leader who likes a wide scope, holds people accountable fairly, and takes pride in an operation that runs well. Job Duties Lead, coach, and develop the Transportation Manager and Warehouse General Manager, both of whom report directly to you, and hold teams accountable for results Own the customer service function across phone, email, chat, and ticketing. That includes response times, resolution rates, customer satisfaction, and major escalations. Oversee courier and transportation operations, including delivery coverage, route performance, and management of an independent contractor network Hold warehouse leadership accountable for fulfillment accuracy, inventory control, OSHA/safety compliance, and budget performance Direct billing processes with Finance, including contractor settlements, client invoicing, and accounts payable Build SOPs, dashboards, KPIs, and management routines, and act as business owner of core operational systems Find ways to automate and streamline the operation, and maintain the business continuity plan Job Requirements 5+ years of operations or customer service leadership, including 2+ years managing managers or supervisors Experience leading a customer service team with SLA/KPI accountability Background in dispatch, logistics, field service, or another time-critical delivery operation Warehouse/distribution experience covering fulfillment accuracy, inventory control, and inbound/outbound logistics Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and workplace safety leadership Experience managing site budgets, labor planning, and cost control, plus working knowledge of billing and contractor settlements Strong data skills, with the ability to turn KPIs and trends into staffing, resource, and process decisions Ability to travel regularly between Charlottesville-area facilities and customer sites, with periodic out-of-state travel (MD, PA, NJ) that may occasionally require an overnight stay Preferred Courier, healthcare delivery, specialty pharmacy, or last-mile experience Experience administering an independent contractor delivery network Familiarity with Zendesk, RingCentral, OpenForce, Paychex, or similar platforms Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement experience Why This Role Direct hire: a permanent position with a growing company Salary of $110,000 – $120,000 Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, HSA, disability, life insurance, 401(k) with company match, and PTO Real authority and impact: you report to the VP and run the day-to-day operation, and your work directly supports healthcare providers who depend on accurate, on-time delivery A chance to build: the company is growing, and you'll be the one putting SOPs, KPIs, and systems in place for it to scale If you're an operations leader who wants to own the whole operation and build something that lasts, apply today to connect with a Candidate Source recruiter! #IND29
