Director of Operations: Heavy Industrial Construction Artisan | Cape Girardeau, Missouri Base salary: $150,000 to $170,000, depending on qualifications, plus performance based bonus opportunity Build the operating foundation for Artisan’s next stage of growth Artisan is seeking an accomplished operations leader to establish the structure, systems, and accountability that will support our growth toward $100 million plus in annual revenue and continued expansion. Our goal is to become an industrial construction market leader focused on building, maintaining, and strengthening the operational infrastructure that powers American manufacturing. This position carries companywide responsibility for improving how work moves through the business, from estimating and project planning through field execution, accounting coordination, and project closeout. We are looking for someone who has successfully built operating structure, improved financial performance, and led teams through lasting change. You should be able to show what you improved, how you implemented it, and the results your leadership produced. Location and operational scope This position is based in Artisan’s Cape Girardeau, Missouri office and has companywide operational responsibility, including both Cape Girardeau and St. Louis. Travel to St. Louis and project locations will be required to support teams, implement improvements, and ensure consistent execution. You will establish a strong operating foundation in Cape Girardeau and implement consistent systems, processes, and accountability across both offices. Working closely with local leadership, you will oversee operational performance and ensure each location has the structure and support needed to deliver work successfully and profitably. Key responsibilities Build operating structure: Establish clear roles, decision authority, workflows, performance expectations, and a consistent rhythm of planning and accountability. Lead operations across both offices: Oversee operational performance in Cape Girardeau and St. Louis, establish consistent processes, and support local leaders in meeting staffing, project delivery, and profitability goals. Strengthen estimating: Improve scope review, cost assumptions, risk assessment, and the transfer of information from estimating to project teams. Improve project delivery: Strengthen planning, staffing, scheduling, procurement, field coordination, forecasting, change management, and closeout. Make ERP and reporting effective: Improve system configuration, workflows, data ownership, and adoption so leaders can rely on the information they use. Connect operations and back office support: Work closely with accounting and supporting functions to improve job costing, billing, reporting, and cash collection. Improve margins: Identify and address productivity losses, rework, weak handoffs, resource constraints, and recurring operational problems. Develop accountable leaders: Coach managers, address performance gaps, and ensure agreed operating practices are followed. Protect client relationships: Ensure reliable execution, responsive communication, and follow through that earn repeat business. Partner with the Director of Growth: Align opportunities with delivery capacity, prepare new services for profitable execution, and share responsibility for profitable growth and client retention.
