Director of Operations
Cloyes Gear and Products, Inc.SUMMARY: The Director of Operations provides leadership for distribution and fulfillment operations supporting the network, including kitting, pick/pack/ship, receiving, interplant transportation, and related logistics activities. This role develops and executes strategies to improve material flow, customer service, labor utilization, cost performance, and operational efficiency while partnering with internal teams and external suppliers to achieve business objectives. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead distribution and fulfillment operations supporting the distribution centers. Develop and implement efficient kitting strategies based on demand plans, material availability, service requirements, and labor utilization. Direct pick, pack, and ship operations to support customer fill-rate and on-time delivery expectations. Oversee receiving, inbound logistics, and interplant transportation to support timely and cost-effective material movement. Maintain compliance with customer logistics requirements, transportation management systems (TMS), freight processes, and applicable operational standards. Establish and monitor operating metrics for service, productivity, labor efficiency, cost, safety, and continuous improvement. Lead and develop managers, supervisors, team leads, and frontline employees across multiple organizational levels. Partner with Supply Chain, Customer Service, Sales, Finance, HR, and other internal teams to resolve operational issues and support business priorities. Work with external suppliers and service providers to improve fulfillment, transportation, and logistics performance. Lead Lean and continuous improvement initiatives that produce measurable productivity, service, and cost improvements. Identify operational risks and implement corrective actions to protect service, quality, safety, and customer commitments. Support special projects, capacity planning, process changes, and other strategic operational initiatives as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: 10+ years of progressive distribution center, fulfillment center, logistics, or comparable operations management experience. Demonstrated progression through positions of increasing operational and people-leadership responsibility. Strong leadership capability with experience managing through multiple organizational levels. Strong knowledge of distribution, fulfillment, inventory, logistics, transportation, and warehouse operations. Demonstrated ability to analyze operational trends, labor performance, cost drivers, service levels, and business risks. Experience with ERP, warehouse management, inventory, reporting, and operational performance systems. Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills with the ability to work effectively from frontline employees through executive leadership. Demonstrated project-management, problem-solving, and continuous-improvement capability. PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: Experience leading multi-site or multi-building distribution operations. Epicor or comparable ERP/WMS experience. Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement training or certification. Automotive aftermarket, manufacturing, industrial distribution, or related industry experience. Experience with TMS, freight management, and customer logistics compliance requirements. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. MBA or advanced degree preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office, distribution center, warehouse, and production environments. Regular interaction with distribution equipment, warehouse operations, and employees across multiple facilities. Approximately 25% travel may be required based on business needs.
