Robo Inc. is building the next generation of robotics systems in the United States, and we’re looking for a Director of Manufacturing to build our manufacturing and assembly operation from the ground up. This is not a role focused on maintaining an established factory. You’ll help design the operation itself: building the processes, workflows, systems, vendor relationships, quality standards, and team required to take complex robotic systems from components to finished products. Our operation will focus primarily on assembly, integration, testing, and quality control rather than manufacturing individual components from raw materials. We’re looking for someone with experience in complex electromechanical products who can think strategically about the entire operation while still being comfortable working hands-on with the team. What You’ll Do Build and scale Robo Inc.’s manufacturing and assembly operation from the ground up. Design assembly workflows, production processes, work cells, tooling requirements, testing procedures, and quality-control systems. Establish SOPs, work instructions, documentation, traceability, and production standards. Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to improve efficiency, quality, throughput, and scalability. Develop systems for incoming inspection, in-process QC, final acceptance testing, nonconformance, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement. Source, evaluate, and manage vendors for components, tooling, equipment, software, and manufacturing services. Identify supplier risks and build strong, reliable vendor relationships and sourcing strategies. Manage BOMs, inventory, procurement coordination, production planning, and material flow. Work closely with engineering and software teams to transition robotic systems from development into repeatable production. Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure manufacturing workflows, documentation, and systems meet applicable requirements. Select, implement, and manage appropriate manufacturing systems, including ERP/MRP/MES tools where necessary. Build, train, and lead a high-performing manufacturing and assembly team. Establish and track manufacturing KPIs including throughput, yield, defects, rework, cycle time, supplier performance, and cost. Remain actively involved on the production floor, particularly as the operation is being built and scaled. What We’re Looking For 7+ years of manufacturing, production, or operations experience involving complex electromechanical products such as robotics, automotive, aerospace, electronics, industrial automation, computers, or similar systems. Proven experience building, launching, or significantly scaling a manufacturing or assembly operation . Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma; Lean Six Sigma certification preferred . Experience with complex product assembly, systems integration, testing, and quality control. Strong vendor sourcing, qualification, negotiation, and relationship-management experience. Experience working within regulated or compliance-driven manufacturing environments. Familiarity with ERP, MRP, MES, inventory, and production-management systems. Strong technical aptitude and the ability to collaborate effectively with mechanical, electrical, software, and robotics engineers. Experience hiring, training, and managing manufacturing or assembly teams. Strong project-management skills and the ability to build structure in a fast-moving environment with limited existing infrastructure. A hands-on mentality. You should be equally comfortable developing the long-term manufacturing strategy and troubleshooting a problem directly on the production floor. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, operations, or a related technical discipline preferred, or equivalent relevant industry experience. Robotics experience is highly preferred , but we’re equally interested in candidates who have built manufactur…
