HOUSTON FOOD BANKDescription: POSITION SUMMARY The Director of Facilities oversees and provides strategic leadership to Houston Food Bank’s (HFB) Facilities, Safety/Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), and Loss Prevention teams. This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including regulatory compliance, environmental and safety programs, long-term planning, and project management. This role serves as the subject matter expert, provides guidance and support to all departments related to safety and facility-based programs, and coordinates with them to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. The Director of Facilities coordinates, leads, implements, and supports facility safety programs across all company operations and locations. Adhere to PACT values. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Prepares and presents recommendations to executive leadership and leads the implementation of agreed-upon HSE and Loss Prevention strategies for all HFB locations. Oversees and leads the Loss Prevention department, providing oversight to all Houston Foodbank facilities. Identifies efficiency opportunities, develops new processes, and manages change initiatives with a focus on cost reduction, streamlining processes, and improving the maintenance and safety of the organization. Develops and adheres to an annual budget and ensures department compliance through monitoring of metrics and processes. Develops and provides business reasoning for Capital Expenditure requests annually. Responsible for developing program-relevant KPIs and corresponding measurements to assess project progress and program effectiveness. Ensures the development of programs and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance and safety, including Workers’ Compensation, are consistently followed by all employees and updated as required. Oversees the Workers’ Compensation program, ensuring timely claims management and regulatory compliance. Ensures that all facility, loss prevention, and HSE vendors adhere to HFB’s safety and regulatory standards. Ensures HFB is in compliance with city, state, and federal safety and health guidelines, AIB guidelines; keeps a record of AIB documentation and corrective actions, and A2H/OSHA guidelines. Escalates and reports on operations equipment and processes that affect the quality and food safety of products received, stored, and distributed. Monitors waste costs and implements best practices to facilitate an efficient program. Adheres to Houston Foodbank’s procurement policies and procedures within the bidding process with vendors and project award. Performs or facilitates inspections of all parts of the organization’s grounds and facilities; reviews and submits CapEx project proposals for renovations, maintenance, and installations when necessary. Equips all HFB department’s leadership and designees with the proper guidance and training to prepare, respond, and recover from an emergency, including supporting departments with their Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP). Attends disaster-related conferences as a participant, trainer, monitor, and/or presenter. Supports interface with regulatory agencies, first responders, and third parties, as needed, on safety compliance and enforcement issues. Responsible for Emergency Action Plans and Contingency Plans. Schedules annual mock drills with personnel and local emergency authorities. Manages contractor safety evaluation process and makes recommendations to managers as necessary.
