Director of Coffee/Operations

Roy Coffee Co is looking for a Director of Coffee/Operations. This is a unique opportunity to help build a specialty coffee brand from the ground up. You'll wear multiple hats, working across sourcing, operations, logistics, and wholesale partnerships—playing a critical role in bringing our vision to life. Position: Director of Coffee/Operations Lead Commitment: Part-Time with potential to become full time in 3-6 months. Location: Los Angeles, CA Responsibilities: Green Coffee Sourcing & Quality Control Source and evaluate green coffee from unconventional origins Conduct cupping sessions to assess coffee quality and develop flavor profiles Build and maintain relationships with coffee producers, exporters, and importers Travel to origin (as needed) to develop direct trade relationships Manage green coffee inventory and ensure proper storage conditions Work with our roasting partner to develop roast profiles that highlight each origin's unique characteristics Stay current on specialty coffee trends, new origins, and emerging producers Operations & Logistics Oversee end-to-end supply chain from green coffee procurement to finished product delivery Manage relationships with roasting partners, co-packers, and fulfillment providers Coordinate production schedules to ensure optimal freshness and inventory levels Implement quality control processes at every stage Manage inventory tracking systems for both green and roasted coffee Optimize logistics and shipping processes for both DTC and wholesale channels Handle import documentation, customs, and compliance requirements Wholesale Development & Support Identify and develop relationships with specialty coffee shops, cafés, and retail partners Create wholesale sales materials, including product information and pricing Conduct product tastings and training sessions for wholesale partners Manage wholesale orders, shipping, and account management Gather feedback from wholesale partners to inform product development Support the development of our wholesale program from the ground up Track wholesale metrics and support sales growth initiatives Retail Support Help build and scale cafe concepts Assist with training baristas and create retail program Job Type: Part-time Pay: From $40.00 per hour Ability to Commute: Los Angeles County, CA (Required) Ability to Relocate: Los Angeles County, CA: Relocate before starting work (Required) Willingness to travel: 25% (Preferred) Work Location: In person
