The Director, Global Strategy & Operations for Cardiopulmonary, plays a pivotal role in shaping strategic initiatives and operational frameworks that drive the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Hypertension sectors within the Cardiopulmonary TA.  This leadership position will focus on assessing emerging targets/MOAs, analyzing competitor strategies, and enhancing insights and analytics capabilities to support clinical development and commercialization.  The Director is responsible for overseeing competitive intelligence functions while ensuring alignment with broader corporate objectives.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy Development & Operations Excellence:

  • Shape Organizational Strategy:  Enhance the strategic direction for the Commercial/Disease Area Stronghold and pipeline products through competitive insights, aligning with overall business objectives

  • Operational Leadership:  Establish best practices in project management, ensuring effective execution of competitive intelligence initiatives

Competitive Intelligence & Insights:

  • Comprehensive Assessment:  Lead the tracking and analysis of competitors’ pipeline progress, trial designs, timelines, and data readouts to inform internal strategies

  • Strategic Implications:  Synthesize competitive information to derive strategic implications and formulate actionable recommendations for key stakeholders, ensuring that decisions are made with a comprehensive understanding of market dynamics

  • Gathering and Interpretation:  Drive competitive intelligence gathering at key scientific congresses, facilitating cross-functional collaboration in interpreting insights and disseminating findings

Market Analysis & New Opportunity Exploration:

  • Opportunity Identification:  Monitor the competitive landscape for emerging targets/MOAs and conduct thorough due diligence on early-stage opportunities, aligning insights with Total Product Profile (TPP) and forecasting needs

  • Analytical Rigor:  Utilize insights and analytics to support data-driven decision-making processes and enhance alignment with market research

  • Decision Support: Utilise data, insights and analytics to create scenario options and enable quicker, aligned strategic decision making

Collaboration and Leadership

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:  Foster collaboration across TA functions and with regional teams, ensuring alignment on understanding competitive landscapes and sharing resources and best practices

  • Vendor Management:  Oversee relationships with external vendors for primary and secondary competitive intelligence projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards and timelines

  • Team Leadership:  Inspire and lead matrix-oriented teams, facilitating regular competitive landscape reviews and scenario planning sessions to maintain a cutting-edge understanding of emerging scientific advancements

  • Authenticity:  Lead with authenticity to build trust, collaboration and a ‘One TA’ mindset with a goal to reduce internal barriers and optimise development to commercialization pathways and decision making

Continuous Improvement:

  • Process Enhancement:  Drive the enhancement of competitive intelligence capabilities, focusing on improving processes and adopting innovative strategies to elevate organizational effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational Background:  A Master’s or PhD degree in a scientific discipline is preferred

Professional Experience:  Minimum of 10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in life sciences consulting or pharmaceutical industry roles focused on strategy, competitive intelligence, insight & business development and/or commercial operations

Industry Knowledge:  Deep understanding of cardiovascular, pulmonary hypertension, or metabolic disease areas is preferred

Analytical Skills:  Proven ability to gather and analyze complex data sets for strategic insights and actionable recommendations

Leadership Abilities:  Strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to drive business outcomes and lead cross-functional teams, even without direct authority

Communication Proficiency:  Excellent storytelling and communication skills, with an aptitude for influencing decision-making through persuasive argumentation and detailed analytics

Agility in Learning:  Strong learning agility to rapidly acquire expertise in new disease areas and adapt to evolving operational needs

Detail-Oriented:  Exceptional attention to detail and a capability to manage multiple priorities effectively

The base pay range for this position is $133,000 to $228,850. 

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs.  Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.  The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year.  Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. 
 

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees and/or eligible dependents are eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation –120 hours per calendar year   Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year   Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year  Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year  Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child  Condolence Leave – 30 days for an immediate family member: 5 days for an extended family member  Caregiver Leave – 10 days   Volunteer Leave – 4 days  Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours
