Director, Data Center Planning & Scheduling
OracleThe Director, Data Center Planning & Scheduling will lead the client planning and scheduling function for a construction campus comprising multiple data centers and shared infrastructure. Manage a team of planners and schedulers to establish integrated schedules, assess delivery performance, identify emerging risks, and provide clear advice to client leadership. Provide oversight and challenge of contractor schedules, ensuring that campus priorities, building completion dates, infrastructure readiness, commissioning, and operational handover are aligned. This role requires 50% travel. Director, Data Center Planning & Scheduling - Santa Teresa, NM Key responsibilities Team leadership Lead, develop, and coordinate a team of planners and schedulers across multiple buildings, infrastructure packages, and delivery phases. Allocate resources to match project priorities and maintain consistent planning standards, methods, and reporting. Review the quality of team deliverables and provide technical guidance on scheduling, analysis, and forecasting. Establish clear ownership of schedule interfaces and coordination with contractors and client stakeholders. Integrated planning and scheduling Develop and maintain the client’s integrated campus master schedule, incorporating design, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. Coordinate dependencies between individual data centers and shared infrastructure, including power, utilities, communications, access, and logistics. Integrate long-lead equipment manufacturing, delivery, installation, and testing milestones into the overall delivery plan. Establish schedule baselines, milestone definitions, progress measurement requirements, and schedule update procedures. Evaluate contractor baseline schedules, updates, recovery plans, and proposed changes for completeness, credibility, and alignment with client requirements. Coordinate phased turnover and commissioning sequences with client operations and relevant technical teams. CPM and schedule assurance Apply strong Critical Path Method (CPM) expertise to assess schedule logic, activity durations, calendars, constraints, float, and critical and near-critical paths. Assess whether schedules accurately represent construction methods, sequencing, interfaces, and completion requirements. Identify open-ended activities, excessive constraints, inappropriate lags, and other weaknesses affecting forecast reliability. Challenge unsupported assumptions and assess the practicality of proposed mitigation, acceleration, and recovery measures. Maintain visibility of the drivers of campus and building completion dates. Trending, analytics, and forecasting Establish schedule performance indicators and dashboards that support timely client decisions. Analyze milestone movement, float erosion, critical path changes, progress variance, productivity, and procurement performance. Identify adverse trends across reporting periods and assess their implications for future delivery. Use schedule data, quantities, production rates, and field evidence to develop realistic completion forecasts. Prepare scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate sequencing options, resource constraints, and mitigation strategies. Present clear findings, recommendations, and required decisions to client leadership. Risk, change, and delay assessment Work with project teams to identify schedule risks and opportunities and track agreed responses. Assess the schedule implications of design changes, procurement delays, access restrictions, and construction or commissioning issues. Coordinate schedule input into change control and maintain traceable records of assumptions, impacts, and decisions. Support review of contractor delay submissions and extension-of-time requests with commercial and contracts teams. Maintain reliable schedule records and supporting evidence for subsequent delay analysis. Stakeholder coordination and reporting Lead campus planning reviews…
