Diesel Tractor and Trailer Mechanic

Mid Atlantic Xpress, Inc. is looking for an individual to come join our maintenance team. As a full-time employee, you are eligible for medical benefits, Paid Time Off, and Matching Simple IRA. Under supervision, this position will focus on the preventative maintenance as well as assist in the repair and diagnosis of various truck and trailer equipment in our diesel tractor and trailer fleet. Position Responsibilities/Qualifications may include, but not limited to: Perform routines service and federal inspection Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required Complete and perform quality maintenance on minor repairs of fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units) Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, tires and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery Adjust and replace brakes, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment Inspect, Repair/Replace a tire Must have own hand tools Maintain a clean and organized work area Work in a safe manner, per company, local, state and federal policies and regulations. Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds) Ability to read documents and/or information in English Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE) Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Basic active listening, deductive reasoning and organizational skills Basic computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer Basic time management skills Self-motivation Salary based on experience Job Type: Full-time Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour Benefits: Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Retirement plan Application Question(s): Do you have a mechanical reefer unit experience?
