Diesel Technician
American Fleet & EquipmentIf you can diagnose a stubborn engine by sound alone and treat a torque wrench like an extension of your own arm, we have a bay with your name on it. American Fleet & Equipment in Sulphur, Louisiana is looking for a diesel professional who would rather fix the problem than explain why it happened. What You'll Do This is hands-on, grease-under-the-fingernails work for someone who enjoys solving mechanical mysteries. As our newest diesel technician, you will keep heavy-duty trucks and fleet equipment running reliably mile after mile, and you'll do it with the kind of precision that keeps customers coming back. Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, and drivetrain components on commercial and fleet vehicles. Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and scheduled servicing to head off breakdowns before they start. Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, brake, and emissions systems using both diagnostic equipment and old-fashioned know-how. Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins without breaking a sweat. Document work accurately, order parts as needed, and keep repair records tidy enough to find twice. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, because a sharp technician keeps a sharp shop. What We're Looking For We want a technician who takes pride in doing the job right the first time and isn't afraid to get elbow-deep in an engine to make it happen. Proven experience repairing diesel engines and heavy-duty equipment, ideally in a fleet or commercial setting. Solid understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and emissions systems found in modern trucks. Comfort with computerized diagnostic tools alongside hand and power tools of the trade. A valid driver's license; a commercial license is a welcome bonus. The physical stamina to lift, bend, and maneuver in and around large equipment throughout the day. Strong attention to detail and the communication skills to explain repairs in plain English. What Will Set You Apart Formal training or certification in diesel technology, brake systems, or electrical repair is a definite plus. A seasoned technician who mentors less experienced teammates and keeps a cool head when a rig rolls in on a deadline will thrive here. If you treat every repair like your own name is riding on it, you'll fit right in. Hours 7:30AM-4:30PM Monday-Friday.
