Diesel Technician

We keep our customers running with the highest level of service, done right the first time to maximize their productivity. We service all major forestry and aggregate equipment brands, along with agriculture equipment and diesel trucks. In addition to repair, we offer welding, fabrication, line boring, machining, and hydraulic hoses. We are a small, hands-on team where every technician matters. Position Summary The Diesel Shop Technician diagnoses, repairs, and maintains heavy equipment and diesel engines in our shop. You will work on a variety of machines, from forestry and aggregate equipment to ag equipment and trucks, and you will be expected to work independently, keep accurate records, and deliver quality repairs that get customers back to work quickly. Key Responsibilities Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine problems using diagnostic tools, service manuals, and hands-on troubleshooting Repair and overhaul diesel engines, transmissions, final drives, axles, and drivetrain components Service and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, and hoses Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and fluid and filter service Remove, disassemble, rebuild, and reinstall major components Assist with welding, fabrication, line boring, and machining work as skills allow Complete work orders accurately and on time, documenting labor, parts used, and findings Communicate repair status, parts needs, and delays to the shop lead or front office Keep the shop, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and in good working order Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment Assist with field service calls when needed Qualifications Required Hands-on experience repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment or diesel trucks Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and drivetrain systems Ability to read and follow service manuals, schematics, and hydraulic diagrams Own a professional set of hand tools Valid driver's license and a clean driving record Ability to work safely and independently with minimal supervision Preferred Diesel technology degree or certificate, or equivalent experience Experience with forestry, logging, or aggregate equipment Welding or fabrication skills Experience with electronic diagnostic software for major engine and equipment brands Commercial driver's license (CDL) Comfort filling out work orders on a phone, tablet, or laptop Physical Requirements Lift and carry up to 75 lbs regularly, and more with assistance or equipment Work in awkward positions, including bending, kneeling, climbing, and crawling Stand for long periods on concrete floors Work around noise, grease, fuel, and fluids with appropriate protective equipment Occasional work outdoors in all weather conditions Pay: $27.00 - $38.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week Benefits: 401(k) matching Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Work Location: In person
