Leisure Village West AssociationOverview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Diesel Shop Foreman to lead our Union Public Works Fleet maintenance team. This leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee daily operations, ensure the efficient repair and maintenance of a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment, and uphold high standards of safety and quality. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to operational excellence. ASE certification is a plus, highlighting the importance of recognized industry credentials in this role. Duties Supervise and coordinate daily shop activities related to diesel vehicle and equipment repairs within a unionized public works environment. Manage a team of technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure high productivity and quality standards. Oversee the scheduling and prioritization of maintenance tasks to meet operational needs and minimize downtime. Ensure all repairs comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies. Maintain accurate records of work orders, service histories, and inventory levels for fleet assets. Collaborate with other departments to plan maintenance schedules and address emergent repair needs promptly. Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the shop. Assist in troubleshooting complex mechanical issues; ASE certification is considered a plus for technical proficiency. Skills Proven leadership abilities with experience managing maintenance teams in a unionized public works or similar environment. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, heavy-duty vehicles, and fleet maintenance practices. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Good communication skills for coordinating with team members, supervisors, and other departments. Ability to diagnose mechanical problems accurately and implement effective solutions; ASE certification is a plus. Commitment to safety protocols and maintaining a safe working environment. Familiarity with maintenance management software and recordkeeping systems is advantageous.
