Diesel Mechanic - Yaphank - Union Shop, Steady OT (Yaphank)

Get paid for what you know. If you can diagnose it, rebuild it and weld it, you should not be making the same money as the guy who changes oil. Here, you won't. Nicolia Ready Mix is hiring a diesel mechanic for our Yaphank shop (we also have shops in Westbury and Babylon). Family run since 1959. Union shop. HOW WE PAY We pay for what you can do. The more you bring, the more the job is worth, and we would rather pay one mechanic who can handle anything than replace three who can't. - Engine rebuilds, electronic diagnostics, DPF and regen work, electrical troubleshooting, welding, hose building. Every one of those counts, and the application asks about each of them so we know what you are worth before we ever sit down. - NYS inspector license, ASE certifications and a CDL count too. - Union shop with medical, dental, vision and life insurance - 401K with company match - Paid time off and uniforms provided - Real overtime. This is a six-day job and the hours are there. THE WORK Concrete mixers, payloaders, tractor trailers and dump trailers. PMs and running repairs, front end and suspension, air systems, electrical, hydraulics, diagnostics, and road calls when a truck goes down. If you are tired of doing the same warranty job over and over, this is the other thing. Our Fleet Manager came up turning wrenches. You will be talking to somebody who knows what the job takes and knows the difference between a parts changer and a mechanic. We hire A and B mechanics. A mechanic: major component rebuild and replacement, electronic diagnostics, welding. B mechanic: PM and running repairs, plus heavy duty work including front end and suspension. If Westbury or Babylon is closer to you, say so on the application and we will talk. WHAT WE NEED - 5 years as a diesel or heavy truck mechanic - Your own hand tools - Valid driver's license.
