Heavy Duty Diesel Shop Manager ADC Transportation – Wink, TX About Us ADC Transportation is a growing trucking company serving the Permian Basin with sand, water, and oilfield hauling services. We are looking for a motivated, organized, and experienced Shop Manager to lead our maintenance department and help keep our fleet operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance. Position Summary This is a management position. We are seeking an experienced Shop Manager to lead our heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance department. This role is responsible for supervising mechanics, overseeing all shop operations, scheduling repairs and preventive maintenance, managing parts inventory, ensuring DOT compliance, and minimizing fleet downtime. While the Shop Manager should be capable of assisting with repairs when necessary, the primary responsibility is leading and managing the shop—not serving as a full-time mechanic. Schedule Full-Time Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM Some weekends may be required depending on operational needs, equipment repairs, and business demands. Must be willing to respond to occasional after-hours maintenance priorities or emergency fleet repairs when necessary. Flexibility is important, as maintenance priorities can change based on operational demands. Responsibilities Supervise and lead shop mechanics and maintenance personnel. Schedule and prioritize truck and trailer repairs. Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules. Diagnose mechanical issues and assist technicians with complex repairs. Ensure all repairs meet DOT and company safety standards. Maintain accurate maintenance records and repair histories. Order and manage parts inventory while controlling costs. Coordinate roadside repairs and emergency breakdowns. Monitor equipment downtime and identify opportunities to improve fleet reliability. Perform quality inspections on completed repairs. Work closely with Operations and Safety to keep equipment compliant and available. Ensure the shop remains clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant. Train, mentor, and evaluate shop personnel. Assist with budgeting, vendor relationships, and maintenance planning. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of heavy-duty diesel mechanic experience. Previous shop management or supervisory experience preferred. Strong knowledge of Class 8 trucks, trailers, diesel engines, air brake systems, suspension, electrical systems, hydraulics, and diagnostics. Knowledge of DOT inspection requirements and FMCSA regulations. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus.
