Diesel Mechanic – Motorcoach & Commercial Fleet

MGM Transportation is an established transportation company based in Sacramento, California. We operate a diverse fleet of approximately 32 commercial vehicles, including luxury motorcoaches, minibuses, school buses, and other passenger transportation vehicles. We are looking for a skilled, dependable, and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, understands the importance of preventative maintenance, and can efficiently diagnose and repair commercial diesel vehicles. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, and related mechanical systems. Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections on commercial buses and motorcoaches. Diagnose and repair electrical, air brake, suspension, steering, cooling, and HVAC systems. Maintain and service MCI motorcoaches, Freightliner vehicles, minibuses, and other commercial fleet vehicles. Identify mechanical problems using diagnostic equipment and troubleshooting procedures. Perform oil changes, filter replacements, brake repairs, belt replacements, and other routine services. Respond to unexpected mechanical issues and perform repairs to minimize vehicle downtime. Conduct safety inspections to ensure vehicles meet DOT and California CHP requirements. Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair documentation, and service histories. Communicate with management regarding vehicle conditions, necessary repairs, and parts requirements. Keep the maintenance facility, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and safe. Qualifications Required: Previous hands-on experience repairing and maintaining diesel-powered commercial vehicles. Strong understanding of diesel engines and heavy-duty mechanical systems. Experience diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems. Knowledge of air brake systems, suspension, and commercial vehicle maintenance. Ability to work independently and prioritize repairs efficiently. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Reliable attendance, professionalism, and strong work ethic. Ability to perform physically demanding mechanical work. Preferred: Experience working on MCI motorcoaches, Freightliner, or similar heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Familiarity with Cummins and Detroit Diesel engines. Experience with diesel diagnostic software and electronic troubleshooting. ASE certifications in medium/heavy-duty truck repair. Previous experience maintaining passenger transportation fleets. CDL Class A or B license. What We're Looking For We want someone who does more than simply replace parts.
