Diesel Mechanic - Heavy Truck & Equipment

MTS Tree and Landscape is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or Fleet Maintenance Technician to join our team. Job summary: Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment. Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, suspension systems, air brake systems, and related components. Review and repair items identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs). Perform welding, fabrication, and metal repair work as needed. Test drive vehicles when required to verify repairs and diagnose issues. Accurately document repairs, labor hours, and parts usage within fleet maintenance systems Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Communicate effectively with drivers, supervisors, and team members. Follow all company safety policies and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Truck Mechanic, Fleet Mechanic, Trailer Mechanic, or Equipment Technician. Three or more years of experience preferred for higher-level mechanic positions. Valid driver's license required. CDL preferred or ability to obtain within an established timeframe. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair documentation. Welding and fabrication experience preferred. Knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA requirements, and workplace safety practices. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Smart phone and ability to use simple apps such as Google Maps, etc. Physical and work environment: Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and climb throughout the workday. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull more than 50 pounds on a regular basis. Work performed in both indoor shop and outdoor environments. Exposure to weather conditions, noise, dust, grease, fumes, vibration, and moving mechanical equipment.
