Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic specializing in Heavy Equipment to join our private shop team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of heavy machinery and construction equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will help keep our equipment operating smoothly, allowing us to meet project deadlines and uphold high standards of quality and reliability. Duties Perform comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy construction machinery including excavators, bulldozers, front-end loaders, forklifts, grinders, and other heavy equipment. Repair diesel engine , transmission , brake system , suspension work, hydraulics servicing, and electrical diagnostics using schematics and OEM manuals. Fabricate custom parts or modifications as needed using welding equipment and hand tools to ensure equipment functions efficiently in demanding environments. Troubleshoot complex issues related to electrical systems, HVAC components, air brakes, alignment problems, and powertrain systems to minimize downtime. Maintain detailed service records, complete repair reports accurately, and follow safety protocols during all maintenance activities. Assist with heavy lifting tasks using appropriate equipment while adhering to safety standards; perform tire services and perform routine equipment inspections. Ensure all repairs meet OEM specifications and industry best practices for optimal heavy equipment operation. Requirements Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic with a focus on heavy equipment maintenance; 5+ years of experience is required. Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, HVAC components, and suspension systems. Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals and experience with electrical diagnostics and automotive diagnostics are essential. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques for equipment repair or modification projects. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical or electrical issues quickly. Valid certifications related to diesel engine repair, air brake systems, hydraulic systems or welding are advantageous.
