Must be flexible to work varying hours, including nights and weekends, as business needs require. Travel Requirements: None Supervisory Responsibilities: None Reports to: Maintenance Manager Pay Range: $30.00 - $33.00 an hour All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States. No relocation allowance will be considered unless specifically addressed. Summary / Primary Role: The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for working alongside other mechanics to perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on company tractors and trailers in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and company safety standards. What You’ll Do: Follow all maintenance procedures, shop rules, and safety regulations. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers and drivers. Review work orders and discuss required repairs with supervisors and other assigned mechanics. Follow applicable inspection checklists to ensure critical vehicle components are thoroughly examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially problematic areas. Test and adjust repaired systems to ensure they meet manufacturer performance specifications. Communicate with drivers to obtain descriptions of vehicle concerns and discuss work to be performed. Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other diagnostic tools. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues involving tractors, trailers, and shop equipment. Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on tractors and trailers. Perform routine maintenance services, including oil changes, lubrication, and tune-ups. Perform mechanic duties including fluid changes, preventative maintenance, basic diagnostics, minor repairs, and troubleshooting. Inspect, repair, and maintain diesel-powered equipment. Diagnose and repair electrical, cooling, and hydraulic systems. Read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and diagnostic equipment. Complete general repairs and adjustments in accordance with company and manufacturer specifications. Maintain and repair shop equipment. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Participate in company training programs, safety events, meetings, and company functions as requested. Assist with the training and development of new mechanics.
