Company: Diesel Tech Inc. / MC Carrier LLC Location: North Las Vegas, Nevada Department: Maintenance Job Type: Full-time Pay: $25-27/ hour plus overtime Overtime : Avg 0-5 hrs mandatory per week Job Description Diesel Tech Inc. is hiring an experienced, dependable Diesel Mechanic to support the maintenance operation for MC Carrier’s commercial fleet. Our operation includes more than 300 tractors, hundreds of dry van trailers and reefers, and an 11-bay repair facility. This position requires more than replacing parts. You will take ownership of assigned work from inspection and diagnosis through repair, documentation, and verification. Your work will directly help reduce repeat repairs, protect driver safety, and return equipment to service reliably. What You’ll Do Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on Freightliner and Kenworth tractors and other assigned fleet equipment. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic concerns using inspection findings, diagnostic software, service information, and appropriate testing equipment. Inspect and repair braking, air, steering, suspension, cooling, starting, charging, and other vehicle systems. Diagnose engine performance and emissions or aftertreatment concerns within your qualifications and assigned responsibilities. Perform assigned trailer inspections, maintenance, and repairs. Identify safety concerns, additional repair needs, and conditions that could lead to breakdowns or repeat failures. Communicate diagnostic findings, recommended repairs, and estimated labor needs to the service writer or shop leadership. Provide accurate parts requirements and coordinate with parts personnel before installation. Follow manufacturer procedures and shop standards when completing repairs. Verify completed work using appropriate checks, testing, and authorized road tests when applicable. Document symptoms, diagnostic steps, repair findings, labor, parts used, and verification results in Fullbay. Review assigned maintenance information and equipment concerns recorded in Samsara. Communicate delays, unexpected findings, and incomplete work early. Maintain tools, diagnostic equipment, and a clean, organized work area. Follow required safety procedures when lifting equipment, working beneath vehicles, handling fluids, and operating shop equipment. Provide clear handoff notes for work continuing across shifts. What We’re Looking For Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing Class 8 diesel trucks is required. Ability to independently perform common maintenance and repair work appropriate to your experience level. Working knowledge of diesel truck mechanical, electrical, braking, and air systems. Experience using diagnostic software, electrical testing equipment, and technical service information. Ability to identify the cause of a problem and verify that the repair resolved it. Strong attention to detail, documentation, and repair quality. Dependability, communication, and willingness to work with service writers, parts personnel, and other technicians. Freightliner and Kenworth experience is preferred. Trailer repair, reefer service, and aftertreatment diagnostic experience are preferred. Previous experience with Fullbay or Samsara is preferred. Minimum experience: 2 years heavy diesel experience Relevant technical training or certifications are preferred. Work Environment and Physical Requirements Ability to work in a commercial truck-repair environment. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, climb, and work beneath or around equipment. Ability to safely handle tools, parts, and components using approved lifting equipment and assistance when needed. Ability to work around trucks, trailers, shop equipment, noise, heat, dust, oils, and other service materials.
