Position Summary We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on our commercial diesel fleet. This full-time, second-shift position supports safe, reliable fleet operations through accurate troubleshooting, quality repairs, thorough inspections, and complete service documentation. Schedule: 2:00 p.m.–12:00 a.m. Pay: $25.00–$35.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications Key Responsibilities · Diagnose mechanical, electrical, electronic, fuel, air, brake, steering, suspension, and drivetrain issues on commercial diesel vehicles and related equipment. · Perform repairs and component replacements in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards. · Complete scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, fluid and filter changes, and general fleet upkeep. · Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems and components. · Use diagnostic software, scan tools, meters, gauges, service information, and schematics to identify faults and verify repairs. · Inspect vehicles for safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance; identify and communicate additional repair needs. · Perform basic welding and fabrication when required. · Maintain accurate work orders, parts usage, inspection findings, and maintenance records. · Keep the shop, tools, and work areas clean, organized, and safe. · Follow company safety procedures and applicable OSHA, MSHA, and DOT requirements. · Perform road tests or operate equipment as qualified and needed to confirm repairs. · Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required · Experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial diesel trucks, heavy-duty vehicles, or comparable equipment. · Working knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, brakes, steering, suspension, drivetrains, and preventive maintenance practices. · Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, service manuals, and technical specifications. · Ability to use computerized diagnostic tools and standard shop equipment safely and effectively. · Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship. · Ability to work independently, prioritize repairs, and communicate clearly with operations and maintenance personnel. · Valid driver's license, with a clean driving record for the last 3 years and reliable transportation. · Ability to work the scheduled 2:00 p.m.–12:00 a.m. shift. Preferred · Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or willingness and ability to obtain one. · Familiarity with applicable U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and commercial vehicle inspection requirements. · Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems. · Experience with heavy construction, vocational, or off-road equipment. · Basic welding and fabrication skills. · ASE, OEM, MSHA, OSHA, or Section 609 certification, or willingness to obtain applicable certifications.
