Road Diesel Mechanic Location: Newtown, CT Primary Shop Location: Newtown, CT Service Area: Connecticut & New York Job Type: Full-Time Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM Overtime: Some overtime required Pay: $35–$45 per hour, depending on experience About the Position We are looking for an experienced and dependable Road Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The mechanic will be based out of our shop in Newtown, Connecticut , and will travel throughout Connecticut and New York to perform repairs and maintenance services. The ideal candidate is an experienced diesel mechanic who can confidently diagnose and repair trucks and equipment both in the shop and in the field. Reliability, independence, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems are essential. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment Perform preventive maintenance and inspections Respond to scheduled appointments in Connecticut and New York Perform accurate mechanical and electrical troubleshooting Use computer diagnostic equipment to diagnose engine, transmission, emissions, electrical, and after-treatment systems Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, fuel, drivetrain, and mechanical systems Perform brake, suspension, steering, engine, and after-treatment repairs Operate a company service truck to travel to roadside or repair locations Complete repairs safely, efficiently, and professionally Maintain accurate service and repair records, Fullbay software Communicate with customers, dispatchers, and management regarding repairs Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and service truck inventory Qualifications 3+ years of diesel mechanic experience preferred Strong knowledge of diesel engines, drivetrains, electrical, hydraulic, and air systems Must be proficient with computerized diagnostic equipment Must be able to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics Experience working on commercial trucks or heavy equipment Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities Valid driver's license CDL preferred, but not required Comfortable driving throughout Connecticut and New York Ability to work independently both in the shop and on roadside calls Strong communication and problem-solving skills Dependable, safety-minded, and customer-service oriented Willingness to work occasional overtime when needed What We Offer $35–$45 per hour, depending on experience Overtime opportunities Company service truck Paid holidays and vacation Uniforms Provided Stable, year-round work Apply Today If you're an experienced diesel mechanic who can diagnose complex problems, use computerized diagnostic equipment, read schematics, and take pride in quality work, we'd like to hear from you.
