Diesel Mechanic – Truck & Trailer J.D. & Billy Hines Trucking, Inc. – McComb, MS J.D. & Billy Hines Trucking, Inc. (HTI) is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team at our McComb, Mississippi terminal. We are looking for a dependable, experienced mechanic who is comfortable working on both tractors and trailers . Preference will be given to diesel mechanics with experience diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty trucks in addition to trailer maintenance and DOT repairs. This position is a key part of keeping our equipment safe, reliable, and moving. employees.hinestrucking.com Essential Duties and Responsibilities Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, rebuild, and replace components on diesel tractors, trailers, and related fleet equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections in accordance with company and DOT standards. Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical systems, air systems, brakes, suspensions, steering components, wheel ends, and other heavy-duty truck systems. Perform trailer repairs including brakes, suspension, lighting/electrical, air systems, doors, structural components, and other necessary repairs. Complete DOT inspection-related repairs and ensure equipment meets applicable safety requirements. Utilize the company fleet maintenance software and tablet system to accurately document repairs, inspections, labor, and parts used. Identify additional maintenance needs while equipment is in the shop and communicate findings to management. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with workplace safety regulations and company standards. Assist and provide backup support to other shop and maintenance personnel as needed. Maintain tools and shop equipment in proper working condition. Demonstrate a willingness to obtain additional certifications, training, and increased responsibilities. Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager. Qualifications Diesel mechanic experience strongly preferred. Experience working on both Class 8 tractors and commercial trailers is highly preferred. At least 18 years of age. Valid driver’s license. Previous verifiable heavy-duty diesel, truck, trailer, or fleet maintenance experience. Must have own basic mechanic tools. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic ability. Ability to work safely and independently in a fast-paced fleet maintenance environment. Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with commercial truck and trailer repair.
