Diesel Mechanic
Chenango Contracting Inc.We’re looking for a skilled, reliable mechanic to join our in-house shop team. You’ll be working on a mixed fleet of heavy construction equipment, diesel trucks, and trailers that are crucial to keep our teams in the field moving. What You’ll Be Working On Heavy equipment (compact track loaders, telehandlers, etc.) Diesel pickup trucks (Ford, Ram, Chevy – ¾ ton & up) Gooseneck and equipment trailers Small equipment and support gear as needed What You’ll Be Doing Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues Perform routine maintenance (PMs, inspections, services) Troubleshoot breakdowns quickly and accurately Welding and light fabrication (as needed) Keep clean, organized work habits and document work performed Work with our team to keep equipment ready for the field What We’re Looking For 2+ years experience in diesel and heavy equipment repair Strong troubleshooting ability Basic electrical and hydraulic knowledge Welding/fabrication skills are a plus Own hand tools (we provide larger shop equipment) Valid driver’s license Ability to work independently and as part of a team What We Offer Competitive hourly pay (based on experience) Steady, year-round work Well-equipped shop Overtime available Paid time off & holidays Opportunity to grow with a company that’s expanding Pay: $28.00 - $40.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week Benefits: 401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Health insurance Health savings account Life insurance On-the-job training Paid time off Vision insurance People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply Experience: Hydraulics: 1 year (Required) Diesel engine repair: 2 years (Required) Work Location: In person
