Diesel Mechanic

LEI is seeking to hire a top-notch individual to join us as an Diesel Mechanic! The Diesel Mechanic will provide regular maintenance and repairs to the company fleet of semi-trucks and trailers. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent time management skills and be able to operate with little to no supervision. This position is based near Mahaska, Kansas but can require occasional travel with company vehicle. Duties & Responsibilities Diagnose and repair diesel trucks and trailers Brakes, air systems, suspension, steering, electrical, and general repairs Preventative maintenance and oil/service work Perform DOT inspections and DOT-related repairs Identify and correct DOT safety issues Maintain service and inspection records Keep trucks safe, compliant, and ready for the road Troubleshoot breakdowns and make repairs as needed Requirements Must have diesel/semi-truck mechanical experience Understands DOT requirements and inspections Can work independently and troubleshoot problems Is dependable and takes pride in their work Has their own basic tools High school diploma or GED required Applicant must have a valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record, CDL is a plus Must be able to lift 50 lbs. at a time Experience with operating hand tools and power tools Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines and hydraulics Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions LEI is an equal opportunity employer.
