Diesel Mechanic

Seeking a US Veteran, Guardsman, Reservist, and/or Military Spouse (highly preferred) for a Diesel Mechanic opportunity. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of heavy trucks and vehicles, with a particular focus on diesel engines and vacuum trucks. This role will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, order parts, maintain equipment records, and assist with complex repairs. The ideal candidate will have strong diesel engine knowledge, diagnostic experience, and the ability to work effectively in challenging conditions and varying weather. Pay: $25 - $40/hour Location: Charlotte, NC Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM until complete; 8-12 hours per day Essential Duties and Accountabilities: Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on a fleet of heavy trucks and vehicles. Perform maintenance and repairs on vacuum trucks and related equipment. Diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engine and mechanical issues. Conduct diagnostic procedures to efficiently identify and resolve equipment problems. Assist the Lead Mechanic with complex repairs and troubleshooting. Order necessary parts and help maintain adequate parts inventory. Track equipment usage and maintain accurate maintenance records. Maintain detailed maintenance logs for vehicles and equipment. Ensure vehicles and equipment remain in safe and reliable operating condition. Complete repairs efficiently while working under pressure and meeting operational needs. Work safely in various weather and environmental conditions. Follow company safety policies, procedures, and maintenance standards. Communicate equipment issues and repair needs with the Lead Mechanic and team members. Support other maintenance and mechanical duties as assigned. Requirements : US Veteran, Guardsman, Reservist, and/or Military Spouse preferred. Previous experience working as a Diesel Mechanic or in a similar heavy equipment maintenance role. Strong knowledge of diesel engines and mechanical systems. Previous diagnostic and troubleshooting experience required. Experience working on vacuum trucks highly preferred. Previous experience in the waste, stormwater, or wastewater industry is a plus. Valid Driver’s License required. Clean driving record required. CDL is a plus but not required. Ability to work effectively under pressure and in challenging conditions. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills. Ability to assist other mechanics and maintenance personnel as needed. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate maintenance records. Bilingual skills are a plus.
