Diesel Mechanic – Roll-Off Trucks American Waste Systems is looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team. We operate a fleet of heavy-duty roll-off trucks and are looking for someone who can diagnose, repair, and maintain our equipment and keep our trucks safely on the road. We are looking for a mechanic who is comfortable troubleshooting problems instead of simply replacing parts. Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered roll-off trucks Troubleshoot and repair roll-off hoist and hydraulic systems Diagnose and repair tarp arms, tarp motors, hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves, hoses, and related components Diagnose and repair air brake systems Perform brake inspections and repairs Diagnose electrical problems using wiring diagrams and schematics Troubleshoot wiring, sensors, switches, relays, grounds, lighting, and electrical connections Use diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electrical problems Perform preventative maintenance, oil changes, filters, lubrication, and inspections Diagnose engine, transmission, suspension, steering, and drivetrain problems Remove, install, repair, and change commercial truck tires Inspect trucks for DOT-related safety issues Identify problems before they cause breakdowns or additional damage Make emergency repairs when necessary Maintain a clean and organized shop Properly document repairs and communicate needed repairs to management Qualifications The ideal candidate should have experience with: Heavy-duty diesel trucks Roll-off trucks and hoist systems Hydraulic systems Roll-off tarp systems Air brake systems Commercial truck tires Electrical troubleshooting Reading and understanding electrical wiring diagrams and schematics Diesel diagnostic equipment Preventative maintenance and DOT inspections Experience working on waste, refuse, roll-off, construction, or other vocational trucks is strongly preferred.
