Diesel Mechanic / Fleet Technician Compensation: $30.00 – $35.00 / hour (DOE) + On-Call / Call-Out Differential Job Type: Full-Time We are seeking an experienced, dependable Diesel Mechanic to maintain and troubleshoot our customers' commercial fleets. In this role, you will handle bumper-to-bumper diagnostics, scheduled maintenance, major component overhauls, and mobile emergency service. If you are a problem-solver who can work both in a high-demand shop environment and in the field during after-hours service calls, we want to hear from you. Key Responsibilities Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Connect diagnostic software and utilize schematics to troubleshoot electronic controls, hydraulic systems, powertrain issues, and aftertreatment systems (DEF/DPF/SCR). Preventative Maintenance: Perform comprehensive safety and DOT-level inspections, fluid exchanges, filter changes, and routine preventative maintenance on commercial diesel trucks and equipment. Powertrain & Drivetrain: Perform mechanical repairs and rebuilds on diesel engines, transmissions, drivelines, differentials, and cooling systems. Brakes & Suspensions: Complete complete air brake overhauls, hydraulic brake repairs, steering components, and suspension replacements. Electrical Systems: Trace and repair 12V/24V electrical circuits, wiring harnesses, charging systems, starters, and lighting. After-Hours Service Calls: Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation to provide mobile roadside assistance, on-site fleet emergency repairs, and urgent field diagnostics. Welding & Fabrication: Operate torches, welders, and shop equipment safely to repair brackets, exhaust, and frame-mounted hardware. Shop & Field Documentation: Accurately document labor hours, diagnostic findings, and parts utilized for internal inventory and job tracking. Qualifications & Requirements Experience: 3+ years of professional hands-on experience in commercial diesel fleet repair or heavy equipment service. After-Hours Availability: Flexibility and willingness to participate in rotating on-call schedules for emergency roadside and field service calls. Technical Skills: Strong ability to read electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and technical repair manuals. Tools: Possession of your own complete set of professional hand, air, and power tools (diagnostic software, specialty tools, and service truck equipment provided). Driving Record: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (insurable for operating service vehicles; CDL Class A or B preferred). Safety & Standards: Working knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA compliance, and safe roadside/field-service practices.
