Burd Brothers Inc. is a trucking company seeking a dependable, experienced Diesel Fleet Mechanic to help maintain our fleet of day-cab tractors, box trucks, and trailers. We are looking for a hands-on professional who takes pride in their work, can troubleshoot problems independently, and understands the importance of keeping commercial vehicles safe, reliable, and on the road. Our focus is on preventive maintenance, routine repairs, and diagnostics. Major repairs requiring specialized equipment or expertise will be outsourced to qualified repair facilities. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance and routine servicing on diesel trucks, box trucks, and trailers. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and air system issues and determine the appropriate repairs. Inspect and maintain brakes, suspension, tires, lighting, and other critical vehicle components. Troubleshoot engine warning lights and fault codes and identify problems requiring additional diagnostic work. Perform routine repairs and maintenance to minimize vehicle downtime. Conduct and document vehicle inspections and maintenance records. Identify repairs that should be outsourced and coordinate with management or outside repair vendors. Monitor parts, supplies, and maintenance needs. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Help ensure fleet vehicles meet applicable DOT inspection and safety requirements. Qualifications Previous experience as a diesel mechanic, truck mechanic, fleet mechanic, or heavy-duty technician. Working knowledge of diesel trucks, commercial vehicles, and trailers. Ability to independently diagnose mechanical problems and complete routine repairs. Familiarity with air brakes, electrical systems, suspension, and preventive maintenance. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Reliable, organized, and able to manage work with minimal supervision. Ability to maintain accurate service records and communicate repair needs. Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus but not required. Relevant technical training or certifications are a plus. Compensation and Benefits Competitive pay of $30–$36 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Full-time, day-shift position.
