Job description: Depot & Logistics Technician - Scientific Equipment About Nanoscience Instruments Nanoscience Instruments (NSI) sells and services sophisticated scientific instrumentation, in the field of microscopy, including scanning electron microscopes (SEM), surface science systems, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) accessories, and electro-spinning/spraying equipment. Our instruments are utilized by universities, government labs, technology startups, and multinational corporations across the US and Canada. NSI supports innovation by providing complex instrumentation used in Nanotechnology R&D, quality control and manufacturing applications. We are currently seeking a Depot & Logistics Technician to join our team in Phoenix, AZ 85044. Position Summary The Depot & Logistics Technician is responsible for receiving, handling, packaging, and tracking new customer systems, spare parts, and equipment returned for depot repair. This role supports both Operations and Service by preparing customer orders for shipment, receiving and unpacking repair units, staging equipment for service, and preparing repaired equipment for return to customers. The position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to handle high-value scientific equipment with care: safely, accurately and efficiently. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Logistics & Fulfillment Pack and prepare new systems, accessories, spare parts, and customer orders for shipment. Verify shipment contents against packing lists and order documentation. Load, unload, and handle incoming and outgoing freight. Maintain accurate shipment and inventory records. Depot Repair Support Receive, inspect, and document equipment returned for repair. Carefully unpack and verify incoming equipment and accessories. Identify and report shipping damage or discrepancies. Stage and bench equipment for evaluation and repair by the Service Team. Track equipment throughout the repair process. Package repaired equipment for return shipment. Ensure proper handling and protection of customer-owned equipment. Inventory & Warehouse Maintain an organized, clean, and safe warehouse environment. Monitor packaging materials and shipping supplies. Assist with inventory transactions and cycle counts. Support receiving, stocking, and material movement activities. Quality & Compliance Follow company procedures for shipping, receiving, and inventory control. Maintain accurate documentation and records. Report inventory, shipping, or quality issues. Support continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of warehouse, shipping/receiving, logistics, or service support experience. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Basic Microsoft Office proficiency. Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs. Preferred Experience handling scientific instruments, electronics, or other sensitive equipment. Experience supporting depot repair or service operations. Familiarity with inventory management systems. What Success Looks Like Accurate, damage-free packing and handling of equipment. Efficient intake, unpacking, and staging of depot repair units. Schedule Full-Time, In-person Monday to Friday Ability to Commute Phoenix, AZ 85044: Must have reliable transportation and the ability to commute to our headquarters off Elliott Rd. and the I-10.
