Delivery Truck Driver

Job Summary Dayton Freight – Louisville is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Delivery Truck Driver to support daily freight transportation and delivery operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting shipments, completing scheduled deliveries, inspecting vehicles, and maintaining accurate delivery documentation. The ideal candidate has strong driving skills, a professional attitude, and a commitment to safe, timely, and reliable customer service. Key Responsibilities Operate company delivery trucks safely and responsibly. Transport freight and shipments to designated customer locations. Follow assigned delivery routes, schedules, and dispatch instructions. Load, unload, and secure freight according to company procedures. Inspect vehicles before and after trips to identify maintenance or safety concerns. Verify shipment details and ensure delivery paperwork is accurate. Obtain customer signatures and confirm completed deliveries when required. Communicate with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and customers regarding delivery updates. Report delays, vehicle issues, damaged shipments, or delivery discrepancies. Maintain a clean vehicle and comply with company policies and applicable transportation regulations. Requirements and Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Valid driver's license appropriate for the assigned vehicle. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required depending on truck type and assigned duties. Previous truck driving or freight delivery experience is an advantage. Good knowledge of traffic laws, road safety, and safe driving practices. Ability to read delivery instructions and complete basic paperwork. Strong communication and time-management skills. Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented. Ability to lift, move, and handle freight as required by the position. Willingness to undergo required background checks, driving-record reviews, and applicable safety screenings. Work Environment This position involves operating delivery trucks and traveling between freight facilities and customer locations. The work may require extended periods of driving, loading and unloading shipments, and working in different weather conditions. Drivers must follow applicable hours-of-service requirements, vehicle safety standards, and company operating procedures.
