Delivery Driver / Warehouse Laborer

Join Hertel Meats Ltd.! We are looking for a reliable, hardworking Delivery Driver / Warehouse Labourer to join our team in Port Alberni, BC. This position involves a combination of delivering products to our valued customers and performing general warehouse duties. The successful candidate will be physically fit, organized, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, refrigerated environment. Duties and Responsibilities Delivery Driver Duties: Conduct daily pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe operation. Safely operate company vehicles to transport products to various customer locations. Load and unload products at customer locations in an orderly and efficient manner. Follow planned delivery routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries. Maintain accurate delivery records, driving logs, and required documentation. Provide friendly, professional customer service when interacting with customers. Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and customers. Ensure compliance with all applicable transportation and safety regulations. Warehouse Duties: Receive, unload, and organize incoming shipments and products. Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for delivery. Load and unload delivery trucks, ensuring products are properly handled and secured. Move and organize products within the warehouse, coolers, and freezers. Assist with inventory counts, stock rotation, and maintaining accurate inventory records. Ensure products are stored in designated areas and handled according to food safety requirements. Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse areas, coolers, freezers, and loading docks. Safely operate warehouse equipment and material-handling equipment, as trained and authorized. Assist with general warehouse and production-related tasks as required. Follow all company hygiene, food safety, and WorkSafeBC requirements. Skills and Qualifications Valid Class 5 driver's licence. Experience in delivery driving, warehouse operations, or a similar position is an asset. Familiarity with freight handling, loading, and unloading procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs. Comfortable working in refrigerated environments, including coolers and freezers. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
