Helping Hands Thrift Store Job Description: Delivery / Shuttle Driver Location: Bothell, WA Reports to: Executive Director Employment type: Part-time Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday Hours per week: Average of 21 Compensation: $19 to $22 per hour Position Summary As a Delivery / Shuttle Driver at Helping Hands Thrift Store, you’ll help keep donated goods, purchased merchandise, and store supplies moving safely. You’ll complete scheduled donation pickups, customer deliveries, and merchandise transfers between designated store and storage locations. Working alongside store staff, you’ll provide friendly, courteous service, care for merchandise and property, and keep pickups and deliveries organized and on schedule. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate assigned vehicles safely and follow traffic laws, approved routes, and store transportation procedures. Complete scheduled donation pickups, customer deliveries, and shuttle transfers of merchandise and supplies. Work with store staff, donors, and customers to coordinate pickups and deliveries, and keep them informed of delays or changes. Load, secure, transport, and unload furniture, household goods, boxes, and other approved items using appropriate equipment and assistance. Follow store donation acceptance guidelines and ask your supervisor for guidance on questions or items the store cannot accept. Use care when handling merchandise and entering pickup or delivery locations to protect items and property. Complete required pickup, delivery, mileage, and vehicle inspection records accurately. Inspect the vehicle before use and report maintenance needs, damage, incidents, or safety concerns promptly. Keep the vehicle and loading areas clean, organized, and free of hazards. Support the store team by helping receive, sort, and move merchandise when not driving, as assigned. Follow safe lifting and material-handling procedures, and ask for help with heavy, bulky, or unsafe loads. Offer a friendly, respectful welcome when representing Helping Hands Thrift Store, and protect customer and donor information. Required Qualifications You have a valid driver’s license appropriate for the assigned vehicle and meet applicable vehicle insurance requirements. You have a clean driving record. A background check and driving abstract are required for employment. You can operate the assigned vehicle safely and follow established vehicle inspection and incident-reporting procedures. You are dependable and punctual, manage scheduled stops effectively, and communicate route changes promptly. You provide friendly, respectful customer service and communicate clearly with donors, customers, and store staff. You can follow written and verbal instructions and maintain accurate pickup, delivery, and transportation records. You can safely lift and carry heavy items, using appropriate equipment and assistance as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation. You can perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Qualifications Helpful experience includes delivery, moving, warehouse operations, donation pickups, or thrift store operations. Experience safely handling furniture and using dollies, hand trucks, moving blankets, and load-securing equipment is a plus. Familiarity with local roads and navigation tools for planning and following delivery routes is helpful. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions In this role, you’ll drive, enter and exit vehicles, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move merchandise. Pickups and deliveries may involve stairs, uneven surfaces, and outdoor weather conditions. For everyone’s safety, heavy or bulky items must be moved with suitable equipment and assistance, following store safety procedures. You’ll need to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. each, multiple times per shift during loading, unloading, and deliveries. Some heavier or awkward items may be handled …
