Day Shift Warehouse Associate (Truck Check-In, Forklift Exp Preferred)

Blue Ridge Beverage Company, Inc., located in Central and Southwest VA, is a large beverage distribution company seeking a full-time WAREHOUSE ASSOCIATE (MID-SHIFT) . SCHEDULE: Mon - Fri 10 AM - 6:30 PM The primary responsibilities are checking in returning route trucks accurately documenting code dates and quantities as needed. Return all product to assigned locations and all empty kegs to the dunnage area neat and organized. Assist with various duties as assigned by the warehouse manager. The shift is Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM. Occasionally earlier start time or later finishing time may be required as needed. Duties and Responsibilities Include: Truck check in o Service Rep/Sales Team check-in o Verify all product returned to the warehouse o Accurately Document and separate close to code and out of code product. o Pick and load “hot shots” as assigned: Pick inter-company transfers: o Accurately pick orders o Verify that product type and count is correct o Build pallets and stretch wrap to assure that product will travel without damages. o Use electronic equipment to move product to the front dock area or as directed. o Load pallets onto transfer trailers in a safe manner. Keep loading pad area clean, neat and organized daily: o Discard all loose trash, stretch wrap and broken pallet pieces. o Down stack pallets to even layers to prevent damage. o Clean up all spills and breakage immediately. o Stack empty pallets and return to storage location. Manage Dunnage o Consolidate and maintain dunnage area in neat, orderly manner. o Prepare and schedule dunnage returns to suppliers. Inventory management: o Produce close to code reports and move inventory and adjust dates as needed and Relocate product to designated area so that inventory is available for picking. Equipment Maintenance o Clean and perform routine maintenance on warehouse equipment. o Document cleaning and maintenance. o Work with day warehouse manager to schedule repairs as needed. o Return equipment to designated area when not using. General/Other o Complete all other tasks or projects assigned. o Function in a fast-paced environment, as a member of a team and independently. o Adhere to strict safe working practices and company policies. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Good organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Previous experience with computerized warehousing preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The following list of physical requirements are required to perform the entire job: standing; walking; sitting; stooping; fine finger and hand manipulation; speaking clearly; hearing to be able to maintain conversation; seeing to be able to read and to drive a vehicle; and lifting, moving, and carrying 25-40 lbs. repetitively, and occasionally up to 170 lbs. when handling kegs. Must be able to bend, lift, carry, climb, stoop and stack product using a hand truck or electric pallet jack.
