Data Center Engineer
Dynamic QuestDynamic Quest is seeking a Data Center Engineer to join our Data Center team in Greensboro, NC. This is a hands-on technical role supporting the operation, management, and maintenance of our physical and virtual data center infrastructure, facility operations, and equipment inventory. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in servers, networking, virtualization, and infrastructure support and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift in response to alerts, outages, and client needs. Applicants must have experience on some of the key responsibilities. Training will be provided on responsibilities the applicant is not familiar with. This position is required to work onsite at our Greensboro facility five days per week. The role also participates in an on-call rotation and may require planned or emergency work after normal business hours or on weekends. Support the operation, management, and maintenance of Dynamic Quest's physical and virtual data center infrastructure. Manage and troubleshoot data center and office networking technologies, including Cisco, Arista, SonicWall, BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP. Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot physical and virtual servers. Manage VMware ESXi and vSAN environments on Dell and Supermicro hardware. Support Linux environments, including Rocky Linux and AlmaLinux. Assist with client migrations using Veeam. Maintain storage technologies, including TrueNAS and SAN environments. Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical troubleshooting and infrastructure support. Install and maintain fiber and copper Ethernet connectivity. Support DNS, DHCP, NTP, IPsec, wireless infrastructure, and other internal operational systems. Maintain and respond to data center monitoring and infrastructure alerts. Support facility infrastructure, including UPS systems, generators, security systems, and related facility needs. Assist with equipment purchasing, inventory tracking, shipping/receiving, and secure equipment recycling. Participate in scheduled on-call coverage and respond onsite when required for critical data center or facility events. The underlying position is primarily focused on Data Center responsibilities (65%), with Facility Operations (15%) and Inventory Management (20%) also forming meaningful portions of the role. Qualifications High school diploma required; technical degree or bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years of IT infrastructure support experience . Strong understanding of modern computer hardware and server architecture. Solid knowledge of TCP/IP networking and common internet/network protocols. Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or similar platforms. Working knowledge of both Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems. Experience troubleshooting servers, networks, storage, and infrastructure issues. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and respond effectively to urgent technical issues. Strong attention to detail and written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to participate in ongoing technical training and certification programs. The employee must be able to work around server racks and data center equipment, including crouching and crawling as necessary, and be able to lift up to 60 pounds above waist level.
