The Cutter/Sorter Operator operates, cleans, and performs minor maintenance on cutter systems, PEF, and product sizing equipment under regular supervision, ensuring smooth operation from the weigh belt through to the product graders. Additionally, oversees the clean and efficient use of defect removal equipment to meet quality standards for product defects. Your day-to-day may consist of: Operating, monitoring, and maintaining sizing, cutting, sorting, and PEF equipment for optimal product uniformity and efficient use of raw materials. Ensuring cleanliness and proper upkeep of all related equipment and surrounding work areas; performing both minor maintenance and preventative checks. Adjusting load levels and equipment settings as needed, coordinating with coworkers during changeovers, and assisting in startup operations. Conducting quality control by collecting samples, performing machine diagnostics, monitoring defect levels, referencing QA standards, and completing all required reports and records accurately. Adhering to job safety protocols, promptly notifying personnel of line issues, and participating in quality improvement processes as directed by supervision. This role works in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to loud noises, strong odors, temperature fluctuations, moving machinery, wet or humid conditions, hazardous chemicals, high or confined areas, extreme temperatures, and vibration throughout various facility areas. This role also regularly engages in prolonged standing, walking, communicating, and sensory tasks throughout each shift, while frequently handling objects, climbing, balancing, and performing various physical movements such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as part of job duties. The use of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus is required. Available Shift: D Crew/PM Shift (6PM-6AM) on a 2-2-3 schedule, shift differential offered. What you’ll need to be successful. High school diploma or equivalent required. 2+ years of relevant machine operating experience required, preferably working in a manufacturing environment. Ability to obtain forklift certification required. Maintains a continuous learning mindset and adapts quickly to new equipment, processes, and roles. Demonstrates strong technical ability with a digital-first approach, embracing new technologies and accurately entering data. Communicates clearly with all levels of the organization, follows instructions (written/oral/diagram form), and completes necessary documentation independently in English. Pays close attention to detail, prioritizing product quality, safety, and accurate record-keeping. Physically capable of meeting job requirements and consistently brings a positive, team-focused attitude to work. Demonstrates adaptability, technical proficiency, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills while working independently or collaboratively to ensure effective and logical decision-making in diverse situations. Demonstrates the physical capability to bend frequently and lift heavy objects (up to 40 pounds), alongside proficiency in safely operating Powered Industrial Vehicles to support workplace operations.
