position reports to the Customs House Brokerage (CHB) Manager and is responsible for preparing and processing Customs entries, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, Participating Government Agency (PGA) requirements, and company procedures. The Customs Entry Specialist manages import shipments from receipt of documentation through cargo release and final delivery coordination.
The Customs Entry Writer serves as a primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts and works closely with customers, carriers, government agencies, and internal departments to ensure the timely, accurate, and compliant movement of international freight. Responsibilities include HTS classification, Importer Security Filing (ISF) preparation, Customs documentation, customer communication, problem resolution, and maintenance of accurate shipment records.

Essential Functions
OPERATIONS
• Perform assigned duties safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures.

• Maintain ownership and control of assigned files throughout all phases of the import entry process.
• Maintain knowledge of changing tariff regulations and reporting requirements.
• Classify imported commodities and prepare Customs entries in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations.
• Prepare, transmit, and monitor Importer Security Filings (ISF) for ocean shipments.
• Obtain, review, and validate transportation documentation to ensure compliance with Customs, insurance, and regulatory requirements.
• Enter and maintain accurate shipment data, including country of origin, HTS classification, documentation, and payment information.
• Prepare Customs entries, customer invoices, and related documentation to facilitate cargo clearance and delivery.
• Prepare and process ACH statements and verify the accuracy of information maintained within CargoWise and other company systems.
