CUSTOMS ENTRY WRITER (EXPERIENCED)

CUSTOMS ENTRY WRITER & INSIDE SALES REP (EXPERIENCED) Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Prepares customs entries for all import shipments to be submitted to and released from U.S. Customs in a timely manner. Reviews documents for accuracy and ensures that all entries are properly classified by using tools such as company profiles and Customs Rulings Online Search System (CROSS). Develop and maintain customer profiles based on client’s shipment history. Coordinate with clients to classify new merchandise according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS). Monitor, review, and respond to any Customs rejections, CF 28 Request for Information and other correspondence. Obtaining rate quotes from various inland carriers, arranging delivery and/or pick up of goods with carriers; tracking, tracing, and updating the status of shipments to ensure a timely delivery. Create invoices for duty and entry charges to be sent to the Billing Department. Prospect, present, and close new business by calling potential new individual importers and freight forwarders. Training of inexperienced entry writers and inside sales representatives. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor’s degree preferred, High school diploma or GED required. MUST have 3-5 years of Customs Writing experience. Ability to classify goods in the HTS and have an understanding of Customs regulations, protests, and binding rulings preferred. Working knowledge of ABI (Automated Broker Interface) system preferred. Must be detail oriented, thorough, and accurate. Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven office environment. Excellent verbal & written communication skills and phone etiquette. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Sales or customer service experience a plus. Second languages are a plus.
