Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential. You must already live within a practical daily commuting distance of 77090 and should factor in normal Houston weekday traffic before applying. You will be asked for your current ZIP code and estimated commute time. THE ROLE Our client needs a hands-on Licensed Customs Broker who personally manages customs entries from start to finish, provides regulatory guidance to the import team, and may serve as the company's designated Corporate Customs Broker License Holder. This is not a compliance-only or management-only seat. You will prepare entries yourself, talk directly with customers, resolve CBP issues, review other team members' work, and train less-experienced staff. Descartes (OneView) experience is strongly preferred. WHAT YOU WILL DO Customs Entry Processing Prepare, review, transmit, and monitor customs entries end to end — air, ocean, and border crossings. Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, arrival notices, and other entry documents. Enter and validate shipment data in Descartes or other brokerage systems. Prepare and transmit entry summaries and related documentation, including In-Bond transactions. File and monitor ISF submissions. Respond promptly to rejects, holds, exams, requests for information, and other CBP activity. Prepare post-entry corrections and adjustments; keep complete electronic entry files. Regulatory Compliance • Ensure entries comply with CBP regulations, 19 CFR, PGA requirements, and company procedures. • Provide guidance on HTS classification, valuation, country of origin, admissibility, and special trade programs. • Catch incomplete, inconsistent, or noncompliant information before filing. • Review complex, high-risk, or unusual transactions requiring licensed oversight. • Maintain audit-ready documentation; monitor regulatory changes and brief management and the team. • Support CBP expectations for Responsible Supervision and Control. Customer and Account Support • Communicate directly with customers on missing documents, classification, PGA requirements, and other customs matters. • Manage assigned customer accounts with responsive, professional service. • Coordinate with carriers, airlines, steamship lines, terminals, and warehouses as needed. • Escalate significant customer or compliance concerns to management. Team Guidance and Training • Provide technical guidance to Import Specialists, Entry Clerks, and other team members. • Review entries and documents prepared by less-experienced staff. • Train and mentor on entry procedures, compliance, and proper use of customs systems. • Identify recurring errors and recommend practical fixes. Process Improvement • Identify recurring entry, documentation, or compliance issues and recommend workflow improvements. • Help standardize entry review and recordkeeping; support import data cleanup. • Reduce preventable corrections, rejections, delays, and CBP holds. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Active U.S. Customs Broker License. • 5+ years of hands-on customs brokerage or import-compliance experience. • Current experience personally preparing customs entries from start to finish. • Strong working knowledge of CBP regulations, 19 CFR, ACE, HTS classification, ISF, and PGA requirements. • Experience processing both air and ocean imports. • Strong knowledge of valuati…
