sentative, you'll be a key liaison between our company, customers, and government agencies, helping ensure the smooth clearance of goods into the United States. Your work will directly impact our clients' supply chains by providing accurate, timely, and compliant customs services.
What You Will Do:
• Serve as the primary customer service contact, building strong relationships through clear communication and support.
• Process customs and OGA (Other Government Agency) entries to facilitate efficient clearance of goods.
• Open files, enter notes, and manage documentation using Cargowise and/or AS400 systems.
• Classify invoices according to HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) to ensure proper tariff application.
• Request and review necessary information from internal teams, suppliers, and government agencies.
• Coordinate with U.S. Forwarders, Steamship Lines, Airlines, and other partners to arrange shipping details.
• Verify shipment weights, volumes, and currency conversions for accuracy.
• Manage compliance with regulations from agencies such as FDA, EPA, FCC, Fish & Wildlife, among others.
• Assist with customer inquiries, tracking, and issue resolution promptly and professionally.
• Coordinate pickup arrangements and invoicing, ensuring all documentation meets government and carrier standards.
• Support the invoice and shipping process from carrier to destination, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Handle accounting processes related to customs clearance with precision and timeliness.
What We’re Looking For – Must-Have Qualifications:
• Minimum 1 year of experience in customs brokerage or a relevant combination of education and experience.
• Solid knowledge of U.S. Customs and OGA clearance procedures.
• Familiarity with U.S. Government Agency requirements (FDA, EPA, FCC, etc.).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access, and Excel.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to build relationships.
• Strong organizational and planning skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret documents, carry out instructions, and multitask effectively.
• Basic mathematical skills for accurate calculations.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Experience with classification and tariff schedules.
• Knowledge of buying/selling rates to ensure profitable operations.
